Party Impressions just completed an expansion on South Main Street, increasing the store's total retail space to more than 10,000 square feet. The added space actually elevates them to being one of the largest party supply stores in the southeast.
They now have about 3,000 square feet of retail space dedicated to costumes and accessories - a great addition, just in time for Halloween costume shopping.
Party Impressions is packed with 50,000 different items to help you celebrate all the milestones, small and large, in your life. From baby showers, birthdays for all ages, balloons, banners, invitations, napkin engraving, party pack paper and plastics, sports and themed parties, Party Impressions is a one-stop shop.
They also carry a full line of baking and catering supplies. This unique addition differs from most party stores. Owner Becky Hoover also owned a large catering business in Florida before retirement. From that business, she realized how hard it was to find small quantities of catering supplies.
"Many of the companies you purchase catering supplies require large minimum orders," Hoover said. "So I knew from experience this was an issue. The popularity of baking and catering supplies surprised me and we are happy to have such an extensive selection in stock."
Hoover moved to Statesboro after she retired from a long career in banking and then in the catering industry. She selected Statesboro to be closer to her brother Rev. John Scott who also serves as the Bulloch County Tax Assessor.
After being retired for a little while, she knew that retirement was not a fit. So, Hoover began looking for opportunities and decided to open Party Impressions in a small space on West Main Street in 1999. She quickly outgrew the original 3,000 square foot store and expanded to 4,200 total square foot in that location before relocating to the current location. She grew to 6,000 square feet initially at the current location at 801 South Main before this new expansion to now 10,000 square feet.
Their largest sellers year round are costumes and accessories, solid color table wares, including paper plates and plastics, balloons, bakery and catering supplies. Hoover noted that costumes and accessories are popular year-round. Of course, she generates half of the annual sales of costumes during the Halloween season.
"I couldn't imagine living or owning a business anywhere else," Hoover said. "Statesboro, Bulloch and surrounding counties plus GSU, OTC and EGSC students are what make my business thrive. Their loyalty and continued support allows us to not only grow our business but support this community and provide employment opportunities for so many college students."
Being located on the Blue Mile and directly across from Georgia Southern University was a big selling point for Hoover to initially choose her present location and continue with her large expansion. Not only does she have a huge amount of inventory, which gives her customers an incredible selection, but her prices are very competitive also.
"I attend trade shows and buyer shows throughout the year so we can stay abreast of the trends in the industry," she said. "That along with our membership in a large buying group, allows us to remain competitive not only with large chain party stores but also with online stores.
