Great Dane Trailers in Statesboro is ramping up its operations and will hold a job fair Tuesday to help hire 100 employees. The additional employees will raise the total number in the plant to more than 650.
Great Dane opened its Statesboro plant in April 2012 with around 200 employees and has steadily increased its workforce. Qualifying for state incentives to build the plant in Bulloch County's Gateway Industrial Park, Great Dane committed to create at least 400 jobs back in 2010. In 2015, the plant added 188 jobs and has hired 46 more so far this year, bringing its total workforce to about 540, Plant Manager Kevin Black said in April.
Great Dane's job fair is set for Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Ogeechee Technical College in the Oak Room of the Natural Resources Building at 1 Joe Kennedy Blvd.
Founded in Savannah in 1900, Great Dane now operates nine factories in seven states. The 450,000-square-foot Statesboro plant fulfilled a company goal to build a new one in the area after closing the old Savannah plant in 2009. Great Dane maintains corporate offices both in Chicago and Savannah, where it is building a new research and development lab.
Great Dane has immediate openings for full-time trailer builders, including welders, first and second shift; assemblers, first and second shift; yard truck drivers, first and second shift; maintenance technicians, second shift; painters, first and second shift; front line production supervisors, second shift; and quality auditors, second shift.
Great Dane human resource employees will be on hand at the job fair and will conduct interviews on site Tuesday.
