A day of music, food and fun in Brooklet Saturday also will bring financial assistance for a local woman diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that causes an overgrowth of plasma cells in the bone marrow, which develop into tumors inside the bones.
The band Southpaw and popular singer Amy Taylor are slated to perform during the fundraiser, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Brooklet Peanut Festival grounds, said Michael Waldon, a member of the Iron Order Motorcycle Club's Backwoods chapter, located in Bulloch County.
Proceeds from the event will help Donna Brower Bearden, a local woman who is battling multiple myeloma, with medical expenses. The Iron Order Backwoods members are hosting the event and also will make a donation to help a wounded U.S. soldier in South Carolina, Waldon said.
In addition to hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken and other foods available for purchase, there will be biker games, face painting for children and prizes. Raffle tickets will be sold for a chance to win a stainless steel infrared gas grill valued at $500, and a 50/50 drawing will be held for five hours of work at Ivory Tower Tattoo, he said.
