Statesboro firefighters continue to investigate a Saturday night fire that displaced the occupants of five Chandler Road apartments.
The cause of the blaze at Renaissance Apartments is yet unknown, Statesboro fire Chief Tim Grams said Monday.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 8:11 p.m. Saturday in response to reports of heavy smoke and visible flames, he said.
"Our guys did a really good job of getting a quick knock-down" and were able to mount "an aggressive interior attack," keeping the flames confined to one third-floor apartment, Grams said.
However, other apartments suffered heat and smoke damage, causing the occupants of a total of five apartments to be displaced, he said. No one was reported to be injured.
Bulloch County firefighters from Station 3 in Register also responded to the scene to assist Statesboro firefighters, Grams said.
