I thought by now that one of the Herald's observant readers would have emailed me to ask what is being built on Highway 67 South near the Denmark community. The building that I am referring to is a large steel structure being constructed at the former location of Red Diamond Homes.
It is an impressive structure, and you may be surprised to find out what is going to go in it. According to the property's new owner Kevin Deal, a Case IH tractor/ equipment dealership will be housed in the 13,000 square foot building. Deal said the dealership will be called Aimtrac, and it will have a complete line of equipment including tractors, farming equipment, and ATV's.
"Four independent Case dealers from South Georgia have gotten together to open this dealership," Deal said. "I own that building and the other two structures on the property. I am very excited to have such a good 'anchor' tenant on the land."
Deal said he was motivated by personal reasons to purchase the 15.5 acre property that had been foreclosed on by First Southern National Bank several months ago.
"This property is adjacent to land that is owned by our family, and I just wanted to see something positive come of it," he said. "In situations like this one, you really don't know what could happen, and how it would be developed. I think the plans that I have for it are very good and in keeping with the area."
In addition to the tractor dealership, Deal plans to move the garage unit near Highway 67 to another location on the property, and lease it. The building that housed the office of Red Diamond is a permanent structure that Deal plans to lease as well.
"The office building is set up perfectly for a doctor's office," Deal said. "When you walk in there that is what it strikes you as, a doctor's office."
Deal said the agricultural equipment dealership is slated to open upon completion of the building which should be in July. "If everything goes according to schedule, the building should be ready to go mid to latter part of the summer," he said. "That is what we are hoping. If someone is interested in leasing one of the other structures, my cell phone number is posted on the property."
So, until next Tuesday, I bid you au revoir.
