Because of the predicted winter storm, City Hall and other Statesboro city administrative offices will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 22, and will delay opening until 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23.
Brooklet’s city offices are also to be closed Wednesday, with Brooklet officials to announce later if further closings are scheduled.
Statesboro officials also announced the following city-related closings and rescheduling of meetings and services.
The Statesboro City Council work session and council meeting that were scheduled for Tuesday afternoon and evening, Jan. 21, were canceled, as announced that morning. The rescheduled meetings will take place Tuesday, Jan. 28, with the mayor and council work session at 3:30 p.m. and the regular council meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall council chambers.
Statesboro Municipal Court was also canceled for Tuesday, Jan. 21. But Thursday’s hearings are tentatively scheduled to take place. The court will contact everyone on the docket for Thursday if those proceedings are also canceled, according to the announcement relayed by Statesboro city Public Affairs Manager Layne Phillips.
After being closed Monday for the MLK Holiday, Statesboro Area Transit was remaining closed Tuesday through Wednesday for the winter storm.
Statesboro’s trash collection has been canceled for Wednesday. But Thursday should be the pickup day for addresses on Tuesday’s route, and Friday will be a pickup of Wednesday and Thursday's routes.
“Please note that this is dependent on road conditions,” Phillips noted.
Brooklet’s city announcement also noted that its Wednesday garbage service was being delayed by one day.
The Statesboro-Bulloch County Landfill will also be closed on Wednesday, January 22.
