The City of Statesboro and the Coastal Regional Commission of Georgia will hold the second of two stakeholder meetings for the Statesboro Strategic Plan Wednesday, May 21. The meeting is set for 6 p.m. at Statesboro First United Methodist Church, 101 S. Main St.

According to a release from the city, Statesboro is partnering with the Coastal Regional Commission to update its Strategic Plan. Unlike a Comprehensive Plan, which is a guiding tool for zoning and development processes over an extended term, the Strategic Plan is a specific tool that guides major projects and priorities in the near term, the release stated.

The city completed its last Strategic Plan in 2018 and has made progress in accomplishing the goals set in that plan. The updated 2025 – 2030 plan will create a roadmap for the next five years.

"The city's Strategic Plan is an essential document crafted through community input,” said Kathy Field, Statesboro’s director of Planning & Development. “The plan is intended to address local needs in the near term by outlining top priorities for the community and providing supporting strategies for the future.”

City officials are asking for input from the local community to help identify top priorities and goals. Also, the public are invited take the Strategic Plan survey, which can be completed at: www.statesboroga.gov/strategicplan
