Group gives $24,600 to organizations in Bulloch County

    The Grant Committee of the Hospital Authority of Bulloch County recently made awards totaling $24,600.  
    A grant of $6,400 was awarded to Concerted Services, Inc.  The funds will be used to provide nutritious meals to the elderly of Bulloch County. Also, $8,000 was awarded to the Silver Lining Club to assist with their Saturday program to Bulloch County residents with Alzheimer’s and other Dementia Related illnesses. The program provides stimulating activity and light exercise.
    The Bulloch Wellness Center was awarded a grant in the amount of $7,200 to provide comprehensive HIV primary care to uninsured residents of Bulloch residents. The Joseph’s Home for Boys received grant support in the amount of $3,000 to provide counseling to the Bulloch County boys that reside in the home.
    In accordance with the Intergovernmental Agreement established back in June of 1996, between the Bulloch County Board of  Commissioners and the Hospital Authority of Bulloch County, the Grant Committee receives each fiscal year, 10% of net earnings from investments. The funds are given to organizations in Bulloch County to provide non hospital related healthcare.
    During fiscal year, October 1, 2005 to September 30, 2006, $162,600 has been granted in support to seventeen health care related organizations. The above grants start the next fiscal year off with a total of $24,600 and the total of all grants given since inception in 1996 totals $2,100,806.
