In most cases, the Bulloch County Schools are paying non-teacher employees such as custodians, bus drivers and paraprofessionals wages roughly equal to or higher than average for similar-size school districts included in a comparison. Troy Brown, the school system's chief financial officer, delivered his informal pay study to the Board of Education in time for its final 2014 meeting on Dec. 18. The comparison to eight other southern Georgia school systems, the nearest in Bryan, Effingham and Liberty counties, did suggest a need to look more closely at the pay of some specific jobs, including bus monitor and school nutrition manager, Brown said.
