Congressman John Barrow will sponsor a Medicare Part D open enrollment workshop in Statesboro on Tuesday.
Anyone who is enrolled in Medicare Part D or who wants to enroll in the program must sign up or make changes during the open enrollment period that ends Dec. 31, 2009. Constituents are encouraged to bring their prescription medications with them to the workshops.
The workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Ogeechee Technical College.
“Folks with Medicare need to know that their drug plans can change,” said Barrow, Who represents district 12, which includes all of Bulloch County. “What was good for them last year may not fit their needs this year. But this can be a confusing process. I hope they will come to these workshops and make sure that their drug plans are still the ones that work best for them.”
Anyone eligible for the Medicare Part D prescription drug plan is encouraged to attend these workshops. Staff from Georgia Cares, a program of the Georgia Department of Human Resources and Division of Aging Services and Area Agencies on Aging, will be on hand to answer questions.
To find out more about Medicare Part D, Medicare participants can contact the Medicare offices at 1-800-MEDICARE or visit http://www.MEDICARE.gov or contact Georgia Cares at 1-800-669-8387 to find a plan that best suits their needs. Anyone with questions about the training workshop schedule should call Congressman Barrow’s office at 1-866-890-6236.
