If you are looking for a way to entertain the kids this summer, the Averitt Center for the Arts has a few ideas. Every week during the summer the Averitt Center offers different kinds of camps for all age groups.
The camps vary from theatrical performances to artistic creations throughout the summer. Preschoolers will go on picnics and get messy with clay. Elementary students will make unique treasures and some may become a Disney Princess or learn to dance like Hannah Montana. Older students will explore the ancient art of masks and have a chance to learn how to become a Broadway star. Students will have an opportunity to learn more about Picasso and art from the streets of Venice.
The camps give each student hands-on experience and an opportunity to explore his or her creative side.
The duration of the camps range from full week, half week, full day and half day. Camp fees range from $50-$100 and a few camps also require an additional supply fee. Students should bring a sack lunch and wear comfortable clothing and shoes. The Averitt Center will provide snacks and drinks.
Registration is due the Wednesday before the camp begins. Camps do have limited space based on instruction and staffing.
For information and registration forms, call (912) 212-2787 or on the web at www.averittcenterforthearts.org. Completed registration forms can be faxed to (912) 212-2789, or turned into the Averitt Center.
