Detectives are still seeking a man they said robbed Mighty Mike's Hot Stop on East Main Street Extension Thursday.

Statesboro Police detectives Kelphie Lundy and Terry Briley hope citizens with information regarding the armed robbery will call with tips, said Capt. L. C. Williams, Criminal Investigations Commander for the Statesboro Police.

After receiving a report of an armed robbery around 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Advanced Patrol Officer Jeff Thompson arrived at the store and secured the scene.  Briley and Lundy arrived as well and questioned the clerk, who described a black male "approximately 5' 7" to 5' 9", slender build, wearing a white tee shirt with a hooded light in color jacket over it, khaki color pants, a Band Aid on his left ear, sunglasses on his head, stubble facial hair and a short hair cut" as being the offender, Williams said.

The man entered the store, told the clerk he had a gun and demanded the money out of the cash register, he said. He took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.

The case remains under investigation, he said. "Anyone with  information regarding the suspect in question or information regarding this incident, please notify Det. Terry Briley or Det. Kelphie Lundy at 764-9911," he said.
