The Alzheimer's Association of Coastal Georgia will play host Tuesday to the Walk to End Alzheimer's kickoff party at Eagle Creek Brewery in Statesboro.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will include food, Walk to End Alzheimer's information, fundraising supplies and an opportunity to meet the planning committee.

"This event will be the beginning of our fundraising season," said Casey Corley, Alzheimer's Association director. "Its purpose is to get our volunteers in the community organized, and it provides a networking time to discuss fundraising options in a fun atmosphere."

The annual walk is set for October 10 at Bulloch Academy and is the signature fundraiser for the local Alzheimer's Association. The walk helps raise money for various programs and services, such as the 24-hour helpline telephone support program, care consultation, support groups at Pittman Park United Methodist Church, the Caring Closet hosted by the Pilot Club, professional and family education, Arts for Alzheimer's and research.

The 2015 co-chairs are Joann Hickman and Cendra Brown. Fundraising teams can be registered and money can be donated at www.georgiawalk.org.
