A search for a stolen car in Ellabell led to the arrest of five suspects after Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies found a suspected methamphetamine lab in an outbuilding.
Deputies called the Bulloch County Drug Suppression Team to handle the case after the discovery, said BCDST Capt. Rick Rountree.
The incident began when Bryan County Sheriff's deputies notified Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies a stolen vehicle was reported to be located at a North Lane, Ellabell residence, he said.
The vehicle was not there when deputies arrived, but a woman, Victoria Cathleen Foley, ran when she saw law enforcement drive up, he said.
Foley threw down "what appeared to be a meth pipe," he said.
Another woman, Marlena Michelle Taylor, tried to run inside the home, but deputies caught her. When they questioned her about others in the home, deputies discovered Anthony Elton Finch was inside, he said.
"We had warrants on Tony (Finch)."
Deputies continued searching the doublewide mobile home for other possible suspects, then checked a metal building adjacent to the home.
"They saw a meth lab and called us," Rountree said. "Then we got a search warrant."
BCDST Inv. Ben Leinhard said approximately $57,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine - about 475 grams - were seized in the search. Drug agents also found "... all the ingredients to manufacture methamphetamine."
Agents also seized 15 Xanax tablets from Finch and Taylor, he said.
Finch, 30, who lives at the North Lane home, and Taylor, 24, John Carter Road, Bloomingdale, were each charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of Xanax with intent to distribute, he said.
Also charged with manufacturing methamphetamine were Foley, 50, Countryside Drive, Ellabell; Julie Marie Livingston, 17, Pecan Grove Boulevard, Bloomingdale; and Benjamin Allen Roberts, 23, who also lives at the North Lane residence, Leinhard said.
Rountree said Finch, Taylor, and Foley were each on probation for prior convictions and Roberts was recently released on bond for a theft by taking
charge. The four all have criminal records including drug related charges, he said.
Livingston has no prior criminal record, he said.
All are being held in the Bulloch County Jail without bond, according to jail records.
The Bryan County Sheriff's Department and DEA assisted Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies and BCDST agents, he said.
