Vivian Amanda Thompson and Shane David Scott were united in marriage on February 18, 2012, in an evening wedding at the First United Methodist Church of Statesboro. Dr. H. William Perry officiated at the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Anthony "Biff" Thompson of Statesboro. The groom is the son of Mrs. Niki Ansley Scott Fields of Portal, Ga., and the late Mr. Raymond O'Neil Scott of Brooklet, Ga.
A program of wedding music was presented by Pierce Dickens, organist; Sheila McKee, pianist; Dr. Jonathan Aceto, violinist; and Bill Schmid, trumpeter. Vocal selections were performed by Patti Kelly and the Rev. Julian Ward. Scripture was read by Rachel Ann Miller.
The church alter was flanked on each side with pillar candle arrangements of white calla lilies, white hydrangeas, ruscus and sago palm.
The bride, escorted by her father, wore a candlelight mermaid-style lace and Morbido tulle gown with a sweetheart neckline detailed by lace straps and a sheer overlay starting at the waist.
The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of white Eskimo roses, off-white garden roses, Viviane spray roses and Vendela roses.
Brooke Thompson Green and Mimi Minick Hook served as matrons of honor. Melissa Brooke Kearney served as maid of honor and bridesmaids included Jennifer Fryzel Geiger, Lorimer Ann Gentry, Laura Elizabeth Healy, Carey Cassedy Melton and Michelle Moore Wells. The bride's niece, Stephanie Bryn Green, served as her junior bridesmaid.
The attendants wore black, silky taffeta A-line formal bridesmaid gowns, with dramatic gathered halter necklines, pleated natural waists and keyhole backs. They all carried hand-tied bouquets of Akito roses.
Honorary bridesmaids included Elizabeth Stubbs Brinson, Rebecca Claire Franklin, DiAnne Owen Graham, Brooks Bagwell Hook, Alison Leigh Jordan, Abby Yawn Lanier and Lori McConnell Newman.
The groom had his brother, Christopher O'Neil Scott, as his best man. Groomsmen were Mikell Reeve Fries, Spires Montgomery Gibson, Daniel Boyd Green, Arthur Davidson Brown Nelson, Brantley Rawls Neville, John James Schuyler III, Ros Ansley Scott and Brad Emory Thompson.
Eleanor Athon Hook and Bailor Frances Wells served as flower girls. The groom's son, Davis William Scott, served as the ring bearer and Shaun David Sikes served as usher.
Programs were passed out by Courtney Blackmon Mills and Rebecca Hall Blumenthal and Tara Denise Wilkes kept the guest book.
Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride entertained at a reception at their home, Biddie Hill. Greeters included Debbie Blitch, Jeanne Anne Marsh, Marcia Parker, Gaile Ramsey and Janna Taulbee.
The couple honeymooned in Oahu, Hawaii, and now resides in Statesboro.
