Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Smith Jr. of Toccoa, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Angela Marie of Toccoa, to John Edward Martin Jr., son of Dr. and Mrs. John Edward Martin Sr. of Statesboro.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Geneva Bennett of Royston, Ga., and the late and beloved Mr. Charles Bennett, Mr. Robert Smith Sr. and Ms. Joyce Smith. Angela is a 2011 alumna of Furman University. While at Furman, she was involved in both the Eta Phi chapter of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority and in Furman cheerleading. She will graduate with a doctorate in physical therapy from Georgia Regents University (formerly the Medical College of Georgia) in May. Angela is currently participating in a clinical rotation at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Kate Martin of Statesboro and Mrs. Martha Williams of Sandy Springs, Ga., and the late and beloved Mr. John Martin and Mr. Bill Williams. Johnny is a 2009 alumnus of Georgia Southern University. While at Southern, he was involved in the Eta Zeta chapter of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Johnny is a personal banker at Sea Island Bank and is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro, Southern Christian Sportsmen's Devotional and the Statesboro Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter.
    The couple has planned to wed the evening of Saturday, June 14, 2014, at First United Methodist Church in Toccoa, with a reception to follow at the bride’s home.
