Mr. and Mrs. Eric (Cindy) Simms of Millen, Georgia, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Sara Ann Simms of Statesboro, to Matthew Jason Gay. He is the son of Ms. Linda S. Gay and Mr. David M. Gay of Sylvania, Georgia.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. Robert Simms and Mrs. Rose Marie Simms of Martinez, Georgia, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dempsey of Millen and Ms. Ann Hanks of Memphis, Tennessee. She is the great-granddaughter of Ms. Elizabeth Lanier of Millen. Sara is a 2011 graduate of Georgia Southern University, with a Bachelor's of Science in chemistry. She will graduate from South University School of Pharmacy with a doctor of pharmacy degree in June 2015.
    Mr. Gay is the grandson of Ms. Margaret “Bill” Smith of North Augusta, South Carolina, and Mr. J. Yates Smith of New Ellenton, South Carolina, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Math J. Gay of Sylvania, Georgia. He is a 2007 graduate of Bulloch Academy and will graduate from Georgia Southern University Spring 2015 with a Bachelor's of Business Administration in logistics and intermodal transportation.
    The couple has planned to wed on December 27, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Elam Baptist Church in Millen.
