Whitney Leigh Polstra and Daniel McKay Whitt

    Mr. and Mrs. David Polstra of Johns Creek, Ga., are proud to announce the engagement of their daughter, Whitney Leigh Polstra, to Daniel McKay Whitt, son of Dr. and Mrs. Fred Whitt of Boone, N.C., formerly of Statesboro.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Polstra of Roswell, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Buckner of Houston, Texas. She is a 2003 graduate of Providence Christian Academy and a 2009 graduate of Samford University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education. Prior to graduating in 2009, Whitney spent two years on Operation Mobilization’s ship, the Dolous, serving in Southeast Asia. In 2009, she began working as a teacher at Mountain Brook High School in Birmingham, Ala.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Cammie Greene and the late Mr. Donald Greene Sr. of Hamlet, N.C., and the late Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Whitt of Mount Holly, N.C. Daniel is a 2007 graduate of Statesboro High School and a 2009 and 2011 graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he was inducted to Phi Beta Kappa and received a Bachelor and Master of Science in Exercise Science. While at USC, Daniel volunteered with Young Life as a leader at A.C. Flora High School. Following graduation, Daniel served on staff for A Christian Ministry in the National Parks in Glacier and St. John Virgin Islands.
    Once married, Whitney and Daniel plan to move to Lakeside, Montana, where they will go on staff with the international missions organization Youth With A Mission (YWAM). They recently completed the YWAM’s Endurance Discipleship Training Program, which culminated with a six-week immersion experience in Cambodia.
    The couple has planned to wed on March 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Unicoi State Park in Helen, Ga.
