Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Martin of Statesboro announce the engagement of their son, John Thomas Martin, to Katie Danielle Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Miller of Kansas City, Missouri.
    John is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mr. William Martin and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Thomas. He graduated from Statesboro High School in 2004 and the College of Charleston in 2008, with a major in communications and a minor in religious studies. He currently teaches and coaches soccer at Morton Ranch High School in Katy, Texas.
    Katie is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Rizzo and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Miller. She graduated from Baylor University in 2007, with a major in history. She has worked with Young Life since 2007 and is currently the Houston Texas Regional Young Lives coordinator.
    The couple will wed on December 31 in Katy, Texas.
