Laura Leigh McCook and John Berl "Trey" Thompson III

    Mr. and Mrs. Len McCook of Statesboro are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Leigh McCook, to John Berl "Trey" Thompson III, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Berl Thompson Jr. of Newnan, Ga.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mary Louise Bird Lanier of Statesboro and James C. Lanier Jr. of Metter and Barbara Thomas McCook of Athens and the late I. Leonard McCook Jr. of Rentz, Ga. Laura is a 2004 honor graduate of Statesboro High School. She graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2009, with a Bachelor of Arts in History. In May 2012, Laura received her juris doctorate from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in Macon. She is an attorney with the Skinner Family Law Firm of Macon and is a member of the Georgia Bar Association.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kenneth Harp of Atlanta and Mr. John Berl Thompson and the late Mary Joanne Thompson of Foley, Ala. Trey is a 2004 graduate of East Coweta High School in Newman, Ga. He is a graduate of Georgia Southern University, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Trey will graduate in May 2015 from Mercer College of Pharmacy in Atlanta with a doctor of Pharmacy. He is a member of the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity.
    The couple has planned to wed on May 18, 2013, at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Statesboro.
