Sarah Jean Martin and Sean Thomas Butterbaugh were united in marriage during an evening ceremony on July 22 at the University of Kentucky Hilary Boone Center, Lexington, Kentucky. The wedding ceremony was performed by Dr. Kris Kiesling of Asbury Theological Seminary and Dr. Jonathon Powers provided music.
Sarah is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Martin of Statesboro and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mr. William Martin and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Thomas.
Sean is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Butterbaugh of Paducah, Kentucky, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Butterbaugh and the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Meyer.
Given in marriage by her parents, Sarah was attended by maid of honor Rachel Smith of Wilmore, Kentucky; Amanda Martin of Atlanta, Georgia; and Mary Martin and Ayumi Martin of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Best men were Eric Butterbaugh of Paducah; and Jeffrey Johnson of Fort Collins, Colorado. Groomsmen were Joshua Metcalf of Bowling Green, Kentucky.; and Patrick Kelley of Washington, D.C. Ushers were John Martin of Katy, Texas; Adam Butterbaugh of Paducah; and Austin Butterbaugh of Charleston, South Carolina.
Mary Kettler of historic Mt. Lebanon, Louisiana, was the wedding coordinator.
The bride wore a whimsical satin-faced organza ballgown with a sweetheart neckline, spaghetti straps, lace empire bodice and box-pleated skirt and a monogrammed point d’esprit veil. The bouquet was an arrangement of roses and alstroemeria.
The couple honeymooned in Washington, D.C., and currently reside in Lexington, where Sarah is in the family sciences doctoral program and Sean is a medical student at the University of Kentucky.
