Mr. and Mrs. David and Julie Lavender of Statesboro, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Jenifer Lavender of Statesboro, to Adam Sartain of Powder Springs, Ga., son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Debby Sartain, also of Powder Springs.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Reta Bland and the late Mr. William Bland Sr. of Statesboro and Mr. and Mrs. Earl and Karen Lavender of Statesboro. She is a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in biology.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Sarah Cooper and the late Mr. Floyd P. Cooper Jr. of Powder Springs and the late Mr. Oscar Sartain and the late Mrs. Cecil Sartain of Decatur, Ga. He is a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in graphic communications management and a minor in marketing. He is employed by Rock Tenn Retail Solutions in Chattanooga, Tenn.
    The couple is planning to wed on
August 9, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Statesboro.
