    Dr. Maryann Johnson of Kissimmee, Fla., and the Rev. Benny Wilkey of Statesboro are pleased to announce their engagement.
    The bride-elect, a semi-retired college professor, is a literacy consultant for an international publishing company. She is a former reading specialist and principal in the Boston Public Schools. She graduated from Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass., with a Ph.D. in educational studies. She earned a master's in reading education at UMass Boston and a degree in elementary education at Queens College, Flushing, N.Y.
    The future groom graduated from Fort Valley State University with a degree in secondary education. An award-winning educator, he retired from Jenkins County Schools after 31 years. A well-known theologian, he is an itinerant elder in the African Methodist Church. He is now pastor of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church in Sylvania, where he has faithfully served for 16 years.
    A spring 2016 wedding is planned.
