Mr. and Mrs. Walker Pratt Hill III of Statesboro, Georgia, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Katherine "Katie" Hill of Nashville, Tennessee, to William Paty Barksdale, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robin Paty Barksdale of Nashville, Tenn.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mary Virginia "Ginny" Hill and the late Walker Pratt "Tiny" Hill Jr. and the late retired Chief Master Sgt. Thomas Victor Greene and Claire Hoffman Greene of Savannah. She is the great-granddaughter of the late Samuel Edwin Groover and Willie Olliff Groover Cobb of Statesboro and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walker P. Hill Sr. of Thomasville, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. William S. Hoffman of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Greene of Gaffney, S.C. Katie is a 2002 graduate of Statesboro High School. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a bachelor's degree in Communications in 2006. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority and a cheerleader at UT for four years. She also received her master's in Early Elementary Education from Lipscomb University in 2011. Katie teaches first grade in Nashville, Tenn.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Jesse "Buddy" and Dorothy Louise Williams O'Donnell and the late Dr. Edward Hamilton and Zula Louise Paty Barksdale. He is the great-grandson of the late Mr. Edward A. Barksdale and Nora Hamilton Barksdale and the late Robert Morris Paty and Zula Matilda Jane Muse Paty and the late Thomas Terrence O'Donnell and Viola Louella Boone O'Donnell and the late Ozro Briitian and Ada Gower Williams. Paty is a 2002 graduate of Hillsboro High School in Nashville. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 2007. He works at R.G. Anderson Co. as a project engineer in Nashville.
    The couple has planned to wed on June 1, 2013, at
6 p.m. in Statesboro.
