Virginia Lee "Ginny" Floyd Hendley and John Dalton Rushing

    Mr. and Mrs. John Ray Hendley of Statesboro announce the engagement of their daughter, Virginia Lee "Ginny" Floyd Hendley of Statesboro, to John Dalton Rushing of Register, son of Jackie Rushing of Register and Belinda Spikes Waters of Reidsville.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Virginia Lee Floyd Tillman of Statesboro and Dr. Sam Tillman of Tilmanstone Farms. On her mother's side, she is the great-granddaughter of the late Lavinia and Dr. Waldo Emerson Floyd of Statesboro. On her paternal side, she is the great-granddaughter of the late Edna Dekle Tillman and Joe Tillman of Register, then Statesboro. On her father's side, she is the granddaughter of the late Laura Belle Sherrod Hendley and G.C. Hendley of the Elam Community, outside of Millen. Her maternal great-grandparents were Dora Gay and Wright Sherrod. Her paternal great-grandparents were Julia Brown Hendley and John Wright Hendley, all from the Elam Community.
    Ginny graduated in 2004 from Bulloch Academy and received a BA, cum laude, in Communication and Theater Arts, minoring in Psychology, from Mercer University in 2007. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and sang in the Mercer University Choir. She is currently employed with Hendley Properties, Inc., as assistant property manager.
    The groom-elect, Dalton, is the grandson of Apra Ruth and Jack Rushing of Register. He is the paternal great-grandson of the late Maurine and John R. Coleman of Register. He is also the great-grandson of the late Lillie and Kelly Rushing of Register. Dalton is the maternal grandson of Mary Lou and Charles Spikes of Reidsville. He is the great-grandson of Arlene Wallace Powell of Lyons and the late Kate and Herod Spikes of Reidsville. Dalton is working for his father, Jackie, at Action Lawn and Landscaping as supervisor while pursuing his degree in Logistics and Intermodal Transportation from Georgia Southern University.
    A large Country Countdown engagement party was hosted by the groom's parents at Meldrim Plantation, outside of Brooklet.
    A small family wedding and dinner will be held on December 15th at 5 p.m. at the home of the bride's parents.
