Mr. and Mrs. Gerald M. Edenfield of Statesboro, Georgia, announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristie Alicia Edenfield of Seattle, Washington, to Captain Edward Alexander Piasta II, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Piasta.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Dan and Alice Newman Carter and the late Perry and Vera Berry Edenfield. Kristie is a 1998 graduate of Statesboro High School and received her BBA in Finance from the University of Georgia in 2002. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia Law School in 2005 and practiced law in Savannah for four years. Kristie is currently pursuing her LL.M. in Health Law from the University of Washington Law School.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of Edward Alexander Piasta and the late Bette Jane Piasta and the late Frank J. and Mary Portman. He is a 1998 graduate of Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa, Calif., and is a 2002 graduate of Marquette University. Edward received his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco Law School in 2005. He is a captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps and serves as a trial defense counsel.
    The couple will wed at Old Fellowship Baptist Church in Stilson, Ga., at 6 p.m. on August 14, 2010.
