Drs. George and Nancy Shumaker of Statesboro, Ga., are proud to announce the engagement of their son, Matthew Alan Shumaker, to Stacy Marie Broussard, daughter of Marcus Broussard and Betty Stout Guidry of Lafayette, La.
    Matthew graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Music in music education and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Master of Music in performance. He is the academic and behavioral coordinator at David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy in Lafayette.
    Stacy Marie graduated with a Bachelor of Music in music education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and is currently pursuing a Master of Music in music education. She teaches general music and chorus at Ernest Gallet Elementary in Youngsville, La.
    The couple will wed at Esprit de Coeur in Lafayette on Saturday, July 12th, 2014, and will reside in Youngsville, La.
