Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Shannon Newsom of Portal and Ms. Lauren Lester of Florida announce the engagement of their daughter, Michelle Rae Newsom of Portal, to Robert George McCoy II, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan and Nell McCoy.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ms. Mary Stewart, Ms. Charlene Shock and the late Mr. Ronald Lester and is the great-granddaughter of Mrs. Ina Shock, Mrs. Elsie and the late Bill Lester. Michelle is a 2007 graduate of Portal High School and is currently enrolled at Georgia Southern University. She is employed by Goody's Family Clothing.
The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Winskie, Mrs. Leola and the late Robert McCoy. He is a 2005 graduate of Tattnall County High School and is currently enrolled in the Apprentice Program at the IBEW Local 508. He is employed by Rabey Electric Co. in Savannah, Ga.
The couple has planned to wed on February 14, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Portal.
