Annual event rides again
W 040513 RODEO PORKCHOP 01
Hendrick Rodeo Company veteran Josh "Pork Chop" Garrick referees the Gold Rush event for children during Friday's rodeo.
On April 5 and 6, for the third year in a row, the Statesboro Kiwanis Club invited Hedrick Rodeo Company to the fairgrounds. The rodeo, an International Professional Rodeo Association event, drew more than 4,000 visitors each night as local riders competed against world champions in bareback and saddle bronc riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, team roping and bull riding. There were also fun, nonprofessional contests including a calf scramble and steer dressing.
