Every 2 minutes, a person is injured in an accident that involves drinking and driving. And on average, two out of three people will be involved in a drunk driving accident in their lifetime. Every day, people drive intoxicated more than 200,000 times and only about 3,200 of them are arrested.
In an effort to educate people about the dangers of drunk and distracted driving, Georgia Southern University hosted Unite Corp's Arrive Alive Tour Thursday. The tour uses a high-tech simulator, impact video and a number of other resources. The event was hosted by the university's Office of Alcohol and Other Drugs Program.
The simulator allows participants to experience the potential consequences of distracted and impaired driving in a controlled environment.
