ATLANTA — Bulloch Academy's girls soccer team lost, 1-0, to Atlanta Girls School in the first round of the GISA Region 4-AAA playoffs Tuesday.

Screven advances
    SYLVANIA — Screven County High School's girls tennis team defeated Monticello, 5-0, in the first round of the Class AA state playoffs Tuesday.
    Screven County (20-2) is No. 4 in the state. The Lady Gamecocks got wins from Lovey Sheppard, 6-0, 6-0; Mallorie Boswell, 6-0, 6-0; Haley Jackson, 6-0, 6-1; Haley Mock and Jancy Durrence, 6-2, 6-1; and Pam Wooten and Kari Laney, 6-0, 6-2.
    Screven's boys defeated Pike County, 5-0, to improve to 11-11. The Gamecocks got wins from Chris Powell, 6-1, 6-2; Jacob Lariscy, 6-1, 6-4; and Daniel Weaver, 6-0, 6-0. Pike forfeited both doubles as they brought only three players.
    Screven will play the Thomasville-Vidalia winner in the second round.
