SWAINSBORO — The Screven County Lady Gamecocks lost to Dodge County 50-32 in the Semifinals of the Region 3-AA tournament on Friday night. The gamecocks trailed by 3 at halftime and played 12 scoreless minutes in the second half.
    Screven will face Dublin today at 4 p.m. in Swainsboro. The winner will receive the No. 3 seed in the GHSA Class AA State Playoffs. The loser will earn the No. 4 seed.

Lady Gamecocks win soccer season opener
    Sylvania — Screven County defeated Dodge County 6-0 in the Region 3-AA soccer season opener on Friday.
    Rochelle Shuman scored 4 goals and had one assist. Morgan Boswell and Jewel Melvin each scored 1 goal. Melanie Chance and Stormy Nasworthy each had an assist.     
    The Lady Gamecocks (1-0, 1-0) will face the Lady Yellow Jackets at Southeast Bulloch on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Blue Devils defeat Grovetown
    The Statesboro High School Blue Devils (1-0-1) beat Grovetown 5-2 on Friday.
    David Ball scored 2 goals. Zac McLendon had 1 goal and 1 assist. Allen Rodriguez  and Hector Angeles each scored 1 goal. The Blue Devils host Effingham Tuesday at 7 p.m.
