Local Roundup: Blue Devils pound Effingham

    The Statesboro Blue Devils cruised to an 8-2 win over Effingham County on Tuesday at Mill Creek.
    Colin Chance got the win on the mound, and Statesboro (7-1)  was led at the plate by Jackson Ware and Jacob Schofil.
     
Jackets hammer Atomsmashers
    BROOKLET — The Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets made quick work of Johnson, winning 20-0 in three innings at home on Tuesday.
    The Jackets (3-2, 3-0 Region 1-AAA) got innings on the mound from Clayton Carter and Sam Cromley, who combined for the shutout.
    Southeast Bulloch returns to action on Friday at home against Appling County.

Screven tennis splits at Westside
    AUGUSTA — The Screven County Lady Gamecocks won 4-1 at Westside in Augusta, while the Screven boys fell 4-1.
    The Lady Gamecocks (4-0) got singles wins from Rebekah Woods (2-6, 6-3, 10-5), Mallorie Boswell (6-1, 6-1) and Jancy Durrence (6-0, 6-0).
    The doubles pair of Pamela Wooten and Haley Jackson won 6-2, 7-6 (7-1).
    The boys doubles team of Zachary Anderson and Bobby Hodges won 6-1, 6-3.
    Screven County will participate at the Jekyll Jam tournament beginning on Friday. The girls will face Columbus and the boys will face Union Grove.
