MACON — The Bulloch Academy Lady Gators pulled off an incredible upset over Tattnall Square Academy Thursday in the second round of the GISA Class AAA state softball playoffs.
“We won two games in our last at-bat,” said BA head coach Chandler Dennard. “It was amazing. We had a real good day hitting the ball and putting it into play.”
In the third and deciding game, Bulloch was down 6-3 headed into the top of the seventh inning. The Lady Gators scored five runs by taking advantage of TSA throwing errors to take an 8-6 lead.
“It was one of the craziest things that I’ve ever seen in my life,” said Dennard. “There was an overthrow that went into right field and another one that went into left field.”
BA held in the bottom of the inning to win the series and advance to the Final Four Saturday at Southern Pines Regional Park in Dublin. The Lady Trojans end their season at 32-4.
TSA took the opening game 4-3 but the Lady Gators rallied take a 4-3 victory in Game 2.
“We were down 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth,” said Dennard. “We scored three and held.”
Bulloch (20-10), Stratford Academy, Westfield and Mount de Sales will battle for the Class AAA crown. The Lady Gators will face the Stratford Eaglettes at noon.
