Local Roundup: RTCA sweeps Gators

    Wil Hall scored a team-high 13 points and Will Powell had eight for Bulloch Academy, but the Gators couldn’t overcome a 27-20 halftime deficit, falling at Robert Toombs Christian Academy, 49-38, Friday night.         RTCA’s Jon  Herrington posted a game-high 15 points and Lance Stokes added 10. Robert Toombs (1-1) led 19-11 after the first quarter and 37-28 at the end of third. BA fell to 2-3 on the year.            In the girls game, Robert Toombs took a 14-4 an early edge and led 21-9 at the intermission en route to a 49-23 win  over BA . The Lady Gators were led by Addie Reddick with nine points. Alex Stanley (10) and Jenna Belk (nine) paced Robert Toombs (4-2). Stanley, a junior guard, scored her 1,001 career point with 47.7 seconds left in fourth quarter. BA (3-4) hosts Briarwood Academy Monday at 5:30 p.m.

LCMS sweeps
Burke County
    Langston Chapel Middle School swept Burke County Friday as the girls won, 27-20, and the boys improved to 5-0 on the season with a 39-34 victory. Erica McDade and Anesha Drummer led the girls (4-1)  with eight points each, while Devin Leach (12) and Edwin Harvey (10) paced the boys. LCMS travels to Bryan County for a 10 a.m. game today.

Both BA B-teams win
    Bulloch Academy's girls B-team downed Robert Toombs Christian Academy, 28-6, Friday and the boys B-Team beat RTCA, 34-30.
    The Lady Gators (1-0-1) were led in scoring by Kinsley Mallard's eight points. Heaven Hinton and Bonnie Hanna added six points each.
    Paul Son and Taylor Burke led the BA boys (3-1) with eight points apiece. Jared Johnson had a game-high 13 points for Robert Toombs (1-1).

Portal JV wins
    Portal's boys junior varsity team defeated Bryan County Friday, 56-20. Michael Reese led the Panthers with nine points, while Steven Cox and Corey Pierce chipped in eight points apiece.

Claxton girls fall
    Destini Blout scored 17 points and Brittany Williams added 12 to lead Tattnall County (1-3) to a 41-31 home win over Claton Friday night. Lacreasha Brewton led the Lady Tigers (3-2) with 15 points. Claxton hosts Portal tonight at 6 p.m.
