Three more GSU coaches leaving for Army

Three assistant Georgia Southern football coaches will join former head coach Jeff Monken at Army for the 2014 season.

The Savannah Morning News reported Thursday that quarterbacks coach and assistant head coach Mitch Ware, running backs coach Lamont Seward and tight ends coach Sean Saturnio will leave the Eagles to join Army’s staff.

Ware served as offensive coordinator at GSU from 2002-05 and returned to the staff when Monken was hired in 2010.

Seward joined Monken’s staff in 2010, and Saturnio was hired to coach the tight ends in 2012.

Sources close to GSU have indicated that no defensive coaches at GSU have been contacted by Monken about a position at Army at this time.

The SMN also reported that, according to Monken, current GSU offensive coordinator Brent Davis will interview for the head coach position at Georgia Southern on Friday.

No timeline for the hiring of a head coach for the Eagles has been announced by GSU.
