    Georgia Southern volleyball coach Chad Callihan has resigned to accept the same position at the University of Wyoming, GSU Director of Athletics Tom Kleinlein announced Monday.
    Callihan led the Eagles to the 2010 Southern Conference Tournament title and subsequent NCAA Tournament bid, and Georgia Southern won the league’s South Division regular-season title last season, posting a 25-7 overall record. The Eagles notched three 20-win campaigns, posting a 107-59 overall record, and GSU student-athletes earned 19 SoCon postseason honors during Callihan’s five-year tenure.

NCSA awards former Blue Devil
    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Georgia State baseball player Scott Sarratt, a former Statesboro Blue Devil, was recently named an All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
    The NSCA awarded 229 athletes from 98 schools with the honor. Sarratt was one of 16 college baseball players among the recipients

SoCon names athletes of year
    HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Wofford College running back Eric Breitenstein and Davidson College women’s basketball player Sophia Aleksandravicius have been named the 2013 Southern Conference Male and Female Athletes of the Year, the league announced Tuesday.

BA athletics summer camps
    Athletic summer camps for local and area children make Bulloch Academy a hotbed of activity for the next two months.
    There is an Elementary Basketball Camp (until May 31), an Elementary FUNdamental Football Camp (June 17-20), an Elementary Archery Camp (June 24-27), a Middle School Archery Camp (June 24-27) and an Elementary Soccer Camp (July 15-18).
    All four-hour camps will provide campers with basic fundamentals in a relaxed, fun-fill environment. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt and opportunities to win awards in various skill-level competitions. Members of the Bulloch Academy coaching staff as well as past and present varsity student-athletes will conduct the camps.

SBCPRD offers wrestling club
    The Statesboro Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department began hosting a Competitive Year-Round Wrestling Program in March.         The club was sanctioned through USA wrestling.
    The program, coached by instructors Joe Salavatore and William Hurst, is designed to allow children to participate in wrestling and other programs at the same time.
    The program will be instructional as well as competitive. Elementary-school-age meeting days are Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 5:30 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. at the Old Sallie Z Gym. Middle and High-school age meeting days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., at the same location.
    The cost for the program is $100 for two months. A $45 player card is optional. Player cards are for tournaments that are held on the weekends. An additional charge will apply to participants for tournaments. Wrestlers will compete in USA and AAU wrestling matches.

GSU's Wolfes named All-Region
ALPHARETTA — Georgia Southern golfer Scott Wolfes has been named to the PING East All-Region Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America, it was announced Tuesday.
    The Southern Conference Golfer of the Year and an all-SoCon selection for the second-consecutive season, Wolfes won two tournaments, placed first or second in five events and posted seven top-10 finishes for the Eagles. The sophomore is the first Eagle to win SoCon Golfer of the Year honors since Logan Blondell in 2009.
