Georgia Southern fans can see the Eagles play internationally for the first time ever this fall as the men’s basketball team plays in the 2013 Cancun Challenge at the all-inclusive Aventura Palace resort near Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
Travel packages for the trip are now available by visiting the tournament page at CancunChallenge.net.
The resort ballroom is converted to an arena for the tournament.
Fan packages include admission to all men's basketball games, preferred seating at games, accommodations at the Aventura Palace Resort, transport to/from the Cancun airport to resort, admission to the tournament banquet, unlimited food and beverages, all taxes, tips and gratuities, non-motorized water sports, free unlimited phone calls back to the US from your room and free wireless internet.
The Eagles will face Oral Roberts on Nov. 26 in their first game in Mexico with a second-round game against either Bowling Green or Presbyterian College set for Nov. 27.
SHS football season tickets on sale
Statesboro High opens its 2013 football season on Friday, Aug. 30, against Lakeside-Evans at Womack Field and season tickets for all five home games are now on sale.
The reserved seat season tickets are good for all regular season home games, including games against Burke County on Sept. 20, and Swainsboro on Oct. 4.
Season ticket holders also can use the hospitality services, which includes food, soft drinks and water on game nights.
Tickets are available weekdays 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the athletic ticket office at the high school.
