Thomas H. “Tommy” Cassedy, age 81, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019, at Brown's Health & Rehabilitation Center under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.
The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a Primitive Baptist who loved his family.
Tommy attended Statesboro High School and was the manager of the first Blue Devil football state championship team.
He enjoyed riding bikes and playing cards. Nobody wanted to play against him in gin rummy.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Myrtie Cassedy; brothers, Bennie Earl Cassedy and Raymond Cassedy; his sister, Bonnie Cassedy; and cousins, James “Mose” Cassedy, Ashton Cassedy and Joe Ben Cassedy.
He is survived by three brothers, Marvin Cassedy, Ricky Cassedy (Holly) and Randy Cassedy.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2019, from 9 until 11 a.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow visitation at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Elder Randy Waters officiating. The burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Russ Cassedy, Tony Cassedy, Craig Cassedy, Robert Dixon, Ed Mikell and Chris Smith.
