Ted Gallop, age 49, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Ogeechee Area Hospice surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Ted was born in Beaufort, S.C., and had lived in Statesboro for the past 31 years. He was a graduate of Georgia Southern University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in fine arts.
Ted was the former owner of Gallop’s Comics and Games and was currently serving as manager of Galactic Comics and Games. Ted was a Statesboro icon, who influenced several generations to become better readers through comic books, and mentored boys and girls to become better citizens.
He very much enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his beloved dog, Bella.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Gallop and Patricia Hartman.
Ted is survived by his wife, Debi Gallop of Brooklet; sons, Hermes Crespo and his wife, Ivey, of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughters, Jessie Law, and her partner, Will Riggs of Statesboro; Mychella Furra, and her partner, Josh Dennis, of San Antonio, Texas; and Shaina Gallop of Vidalia; brothers, John Gallop, and his wife, Dawn, of Savannah; Jay Gallop of Hampton, S.C.; and Benjie Gallop, and his wife, Tanya, of Statesboro; sisters, Lynn Floyd of St. Helena Island, S.C.; and Gail Stephens of Lobeco, S.C.; stepfather, Rick Hartman; nine grandchildren, James, Allison, Erik, Connor, Vince, Jacob, Alex, Hunter and Ilaria; and many in-laws and nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Galactic Comics and Games, 21 East Vine Street, Statesboro, Georgia 30458.
