JESUP, Ga. -- Helen Hensley Norwood, 79, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018, after an extended illness.
    She was born January 15, 1939, in Mars Hill, North Carolina, to the late Jimmy and Berlia Ray Hensley. She grew up in Madison County with her four siblings and graduated from Mars Hill High School.
    She moved to Jesup, Georgia, in 1966, where she and her husband, Bill, owned and operated Ben Franklin for many years.
    Mrs. Norwood was known far and wide for her cooking and baking. She was also a talented singer, once performing with her family on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry.
    She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church.
    Helen was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Bill Norwood III.
    Survivors are two children, William Gary (Kim) Norwood of Cartersville and Cindy Norwood Hart of Statesboro; four grandchildren, Mallory (Jacob) Wheeler of Swainsboro, Tyler (Jessie) Avera of Baxley, Ali (Corey) Evans of Cartersville and Ross Norwood of Cartersville; brother, Charles Ernest Hensley; and sister, Gladys English, both of Mars Hill, N.C.
    The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at Epworth First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Duane Harper and Pastor Garth Duke-Barton officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.
    Active pallbearers will be Tyler Avera, Ross Norwood, Jacob Wheeler, Corey Evans, Brian Thomas and Will Smith.
    Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epworth First United Methodist Church, 675 South Third Street, Jesup, GA 31545.
    Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
