Statesboro police arrested two teens on outstanding warrants Tuesday stemming from a Sept. 5 attack on a victim at the local public library.
Kodi Deshawn Slater, 17, Cone Homes, and Lavonte Daqueze Prescott, 17, Wildwood Circle, each were arrested on charges of battery and unlawful participation in gang activity, said Statesboro Police Community Information Specialist Madison Bridges.
Detectives responding to the Sept. 5 attack against a 16-year-old male learned a group of offenders physically attacked the teen and took his cell phone. The victim suffered visible but minor injuries and went to the hospital on his own accord after the incident, she said.
After detectives identified Slater and Prescott as being involved in the attack, warrants were issued, with both offenders being taken into custody Tuesday, she said.
The charge of participating in criminal gang activity stems from the offenders making gang references during the attack. Due to the ongoing investigation status detectives would not release the identity of the gang mentioned, she said.
Prescott and Slater were taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where they remain without bond, according to jail records.
