Statesboro Police responded around 1:50 a.m. to McDonalds on Northside Drive East, where a woman said a black man, wearing a dark tank top and dark baggy jeans, with a dark complexion and short haircut, snatched her night deposit bag as she walked from the store.
The man had no visible weapon and the victim was not injured, said Statesboro Police major Scott Brunson.
According to reports, the bag contained $4,740 in cash.
The offender grabbed the deposit bag and fled, with the victim losing sight of him as he rounded the corner behind Waffle House next door to the McDonalds building.
