A man and a juvenile who were stopped Wednesday for illegally passing a school bus were also arrested on drug charges.

On the first day of school in Bulloch County, members of the Statesboro Police Department’s Impact Team pulled over a driver just after 7 a.m.  for “the unlawful passing of a school bus,” said Statesboro Police Community Information Specialist Madison Warren.

“During the traffic stop, officers observed evidence of drug activity and investigated accordingly,” she said. “Marijuana and drug related objects were found in the vehicle.”

Denzel D’Andre Puckett, 19, Scotch Pine Avenue, was charged with felony possession (more than an ounce) of marijuana; possession of a drug related object and duty of driver meeting/overtaking a school bus.

The 15-year-old juvenile was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Warren said Puckett was taken to the Bulloch County Jail to await further court action and the juvenile was turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
