For those of you down here who do not know it, we do have ... freedom of religion in this country. That means you can go to the Catholic church, the Episcopal church, a Baptist church, the Presbyterian church. You can go to the Buddhist temple. You can go to a Muslim temple or you can go to the Jewish Synagogue. It's freedom of religion here and it doesn't matter what religion you are or what job you have.

To the publisher, editor and staff of the Statesboro Herald: please take heed to the letter to the editor in Sunday's paper written by the Deweys ... concerning Soundoff. I believe you need to do a better job of editing ... what you put in to the Soundoff comments. ... Check the overt lies that are ... are stated and for goodness sakes, you are a welcome mat to someone comin' into the community an what would they think of some of this ... of the comment...

Unless you change your personnel ... who determines what should be accepted and not accepted in Soundoff, the column should be changed in name ... to 'Dumb and Dumber'.

Listen. You people up there at the Statesboro Herald ... all of y'all listen up. ... I think you're usin' the word 'hero' a little bit loosely. ... I just read the hero ... column you had in the paper. ... My all-time favorite hero ... is Sarah Palin. ... Man, she can drill, baby, drill, can't she? Thank you. Have a very nice day.

I'd like to know what the police chief made in salary and what the fire chief made in salary. And then I'd like to know what the new public safety director, who took both jobs away, is makin' in salary and let's see how they compare.

What we need in our Statesboro local government is a little transparency instead of all these back door deals. You know, like the ones we have in Washington.

Hey, folks, do y'all know know that we've got 14 different security agencies in this country? ... Seems to me with all that much so-called intelligence, we could tell when somethin' was goin' to happen before it jumped up and bit us in the butt ... which we can't seem to do now. Reckon why.

I am sympathetic when anyone loses a job. However, these are tough times. The only other option was raising taxes. The story on Thursday's front page was a non-story. There were only about 12 people attending the so-called press conference. Why was this front-page news? ... We should note that Bill Thomas owns no property in the city and therefore pays no ad velorem taxes.

Kudos to Bill Thomas. ... There must be a complete turnover at city hall. Everyone must resign without further delay. The alternative to this is municipal receivership ... e.g., the state takes over.

I just want to know ... do you print the rants of any raving lunatic? ... How in the world did a nobody like Bill Thomas get front page of your paper? Please. From now on, please send all idiotic comments to the Soundoff section.

Well, President Obama is speakin' out one side of his mouth that BP is responsible for cleanin' up this mess and ... gettin' this oil plu ... oil well plugged. Then on ... out the other side of his mouth sayin' he's responsible. Well, somebody needs to take responsibility and get the problem under control before hurricane season kicks in and quit worryin' about who's ... responsible, who does what. They both need to work together and get it solved before ... hurricane season hits.

I am a school teacher in Bulloch County. I think that it is terrible that our pay has been cut six days, but our principal is makin' us attend a voluntary map workshop during the summer and we are getting paid one-third of our daily salary.

This is to the white Escalade that drops their child off at Brooklet Elementary in the morning. I know it's the last day of school ... but, with you coming in on the side road and people already in line waiting to get in to drop their child off ... it's not fair for you to ... run right across when we've been waiting to get in line ... and jump right in front of everybody. You know, take your turn and wait like everybody else. Have a good day.

"If you people in the local government would start havin' all of your ... meetings out at Roy's place, free of charge, you could save us taxpayers a lotta money. But you wanna go outta town and run up a big bill partyin' instead of doin' your work. Oh, that's right. You can't do it here because ... you're bothered by your cell phone. Well if you don't have sense enough to turn it off, you don't need the job anyway.

You know, I'm tired of hearin' people ... complaining about the president ... not doin' nuthin' about immigration. ... If you people ... would do what Americans are supposed to do, when you see a house being built, a school bein' built and you see Mexicans on it, call immigration. They will come down. They will get the people that ... hired 'em. Five thousand dollars a Mexican is what they'll be fined. And after that, they'll learn their lesson. There will be jobs opened. So ... American people ... do your jobs!

Please advise the teachers and the other people in the county not to approach the man takin' the pictures. Have an adult go call the police ... so they can catch 'im.
