Three vehicles were damaged, but no one was injured, when shots were fired Sunday evening from a passing vehicle on Johnson Street.

Statesboro police are looking for a red, newer-model four-door sedan, Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said in a news release issued Monday.

Around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of shots fired in front of a Johnson Street residence. While several people were outside, no one was shot, he said.

"Witnesses at the residence told police ... unknown subjects drove past ... fired multiple shots out of the vehicle's window, and continued on towards West Jones Avenue without stopping," Turner said.

This case is currently under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Statesboro police Detective Ben Purvis at (912) 764-9911.

Anonymous tips may be submitted online at www.tipsoft.com or by sending a text message beginning with "TIPSSPD" to 274637 (CRIMES). All information is strictly confidential, Turner said.
