▲ Kenneth Lee Bowers, 56, Metter — reckless driving.

▲ Zachary Warren Heininger, 20, Savannah — reckless driving.

▲ Kyle Andrew Nicholson, 28, Claxton — first-degree forgery.

▲ Lewis Dean Martin Jr., 61, Eustis, Fla. — felony probation violation.

▲ Krystal Faye Collins, 32, Statesboro — felony probation violation.

▲ Jerome Muhammed Preaster, 33, Dawne Drive, Statesboro — obstruction, loitering/prowling, giving false information, felony theft by shoplifting.

➤ Statesboro Fire Department

▲ From March 18-24, firefighters responded to the following 26 calls:

▲ Five structure fires with no deaths or injuries (Gentilly Drive- kitchen fire; Misty Lane — wildfire destroying two outbuildings and a vehicle, damaging a mobile home; Burkhalter Road — outdoor shed destroyed; Highway 301 N. — assisted Bulloch County Fire, mobile home damaged; Foxlake Drive — kitchen fire.

▲ Firefighters also responded to a dumpster fire, an unauthorized debris fire, a vehicle fire, and two grass/brush fires. Other calls included 13 alarm calls and two vehicle accidents. Firefighters also participated in a Career Day exercise for local youth.


➤ Bulloch County Fire Department

▲ From March 21-29, firefighters responded to the following calls:

▲ Portal — three woods/grass fires and assisted with four structure fires.

▲ Register — assisted with three structure fires.

▲ Nevils — one woods/grass fire, one vehicle fire and assisted with three structure fires.

▲ Bay District — one vehicle fire and assisted with two structure fires.

▲ Stilson — two woods/grass fire, one fire alarm call and assisted with two structure fires.

▲ Brooklet — assisted with two structure fires.

▲ Leefield — one fire alarm call and assisted with one structure fire. 

▲ Clito — one woods/grass fire and assisted with one structure fire. 

 

➤ Brooklet Police Department

▲ Officers issued the following citations March 17-24: two for adult safety belt violations; three for failure to stop at stop sigh/yield sign; two for following too closely, and one for unlawful use of wireless device

▲ Officers also responded to two complaints of harassing phone calls.


➤ Candler County Sheriff’s Department

▲ HAYLOFT ROAD — Someone reported financial transaction card fraud and forgery,

▲ SHAMROCK ROAD — Deputies responded to a report of someone receiving harassing phone calls.

▲ HULSEY DRIVE — Someone reported a case of animal cruelty.

▲ GRICE ROAD — Deputies responded to a report of stalking.


➤ Register Police Department

▲ Officers issued the following citations last week; five citations for speeding, six citations for stop sign violations and three citations for holding a cell phone while driving.


➤ Metter Police Department

▲ FRED’S — Officers cited a person for shoplifting.

▲ EAST LILLIAN STREET —  A domestic dispute involved accusations of simple battery.

▲ WEST LILLIAN STREET — Officers met with an animal control officer regarding a neglected animal.

▲ MARTIN LUTHER KING BOULEVARD/LEE STREET — Someone flagged down an officer to report criminal trespass, damage to property.

▲ SIMMONS STREET — Two officers performed a “knock and talk” to discuss a drug complaint involving marijuana.

▲ MICHAEL STREET — A domestic dispute involved property damage.

▲ SOUTH LEWIS STREET — An intoxicated man was arrested at Parker’s convenience store.


➤ Bulloch County Animal Shelter

▲ Animals received from rural areas — 21 adult dogs, one puppy, two adult cats.

▲ Animals received from City of Statesboro — one adult dog.

▲ Adopted from shelter — three adult dogs, two puppies, two adult cats and one kitten.

▲ Taken by rescue organizations — no animals.

▲ Reclaimed by owners — five dogs.

▲ Died at shelter — no animals.

▲ Dogs/cats euthanized — one adult cat (respiratory illness).
