The fact that Clyde's Market #74 is within sight of the Bulloch County Sheriff's Department apparently did not phase a man whom investigators said robbed the store early Sunday.
Around 5:15 a.m., a man entered the store, located at the intersection of U.S. 3012 North and Veteran's Memorial Parkway, and forced the clerk to the floor, said Bulloch County Sheriff's Investigator Jared Akins.
Deputies and investigators arrived within minutes after the clerk called for help, but the offender had fled, he said. However, store surveillance cameras caught him in the act.
The clerk, who was not injured, told Akins a black man standing about 5'8", slender build, and wearing a "dark colored hoodie type jacket with white
symbols on it" came into the store just before 5:15 a.m.
The man was also wearing an unusual combination - white shorts over dark pants, and black shoes, he said.
After forcing the clerk to the floor, the man took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot, he said.
Deputies recovered some evidence at the scene, including some money, he said.
"The investigation is active at this time," Akins said, asking that anyone with information about the incident, or who may recognize the offender from the video, contact him at (912) 764-1789 or 764-8888. Information given will be held confidentially, he said.
