A Millen man was arrested Monday and charged with rape regarding a sexual assault on West Inman Street the previous Friday.

The victim told Statesboro police that she met Jarvis Dontez Walker, 31, of Royal Road, through an online dating service. Police responded to the scene just before 11 p.m. Friday regarding the reported sexual assault and learned that Walker had fled the scene, said Madison Bridges, public information specialist with the Statesboro Police Department.

The victim was transported to the Teal House for a sexual assault examination, and a detective was assigned to the case. Warrants for Walker were issued, she said.

A lookout was issued for Walker, and he was entered into the Georgia Crime Information Center and National Crime Information Center systems as a wanted person.

On Monday, he was arrested on the warrant in Jenkins County. Walker was later picked up from the Jenkins County Jail and transported to the Bulloch County Jail for processing. He is currently being held without bond in the Bulloch County Jail, pending further court action.

Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to contact the Statesboro Police Department at (912) 764-9911.
