A Metter couple were killed Saturday when the motorcycle they were riding crossed the center line, striking a car.
Georgia State Patrol Post 45 Commander Sgt. First-Class Christopher Wright said Howard Thompson, 38, Rt. 3, Metter, was driving a  Suzuki motorcycle with his wife, Nona Thompson, 46, as a passenger, when the accident occurred.
The Thompsons were traveling east on Ga. 46 just west of Metter around  8:30 p.m. Saturday when, for an unknown reason, the motorcycle crossed the center line and struck a 1994 Honda Passport traveling west, driven by Guynell Eason, 49, also of Rt. 3, Metter, he said.
The motorcycle struck the car in its left front fender, ejecting both Howard and Nona Thompson upon impact, he said. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Eason suffered minor injuries, he said.
No charges are pending and alcohol was not a factor in the accident, Wright said.
The Thompsons were riding along with another couple on a motorcycle, and the cause of Thompson's crossing over the center line is unknown , he said.
Wright said the deaths make a total of 10 fatalities this year in the three-county jurisdiction of Georgia State Patrol Post 45, which covers Bulloch, Candler and Evans counties.
